Early Life and Pre-AFL

Prestia grew up in Melbourne's inner suburbs, playing for the Aberfeldie Football Club in the Essendon District Football League. He played for the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup in 2010, impressing coaching staff and scout. In late 2010, Prestia was selected to represent Victoria Metro in the Under 18's championships. He started brightly, picking up 21 touches in the opening game, but an injury early in the second game ended his championship campaign prematurely.

2011 season

Dion was taken Pick 9 in the 2010 National draft by the Gold Coast. He made his AFL debut in the Suns inaugural league game against the Blues in the 2011 season. Prestia averaged 16.5 disposals per game in his first season, and had a season-high 20 disposals against the Bulldogs in Round 3.
